One night this summer you may be longing for a great family movie. Why not choose one about a four-legged family member?
Here are 7 animal movies that dogs and cat owners are loving this summer!:
- The Secret Life of Pets 2
Still in theaters in some locations, The Secret Life of Pets 2 has been a hit for dog/cat lovers this summer. It’s cute animation alongside its lovable story line draws in audiences, and better yet, it contains a heartwarming moral.
Because it is still in theaters in some places, you cannot yet stream the movie from your device. However, you can purchase the DVD. Perhaps this will make a great movie night for your family, including your furry one.
- The Secret Life of Pets
This is the movie that spawned the sequel above. I came out two years ago as a critical darling with a roaring opening weekend at the box office. Now you can stream it from anywhere and enjoy the animated characters that just couldn’t leave the big screen after one movie!
- A Dog’s Journey
A Dog’s Journey came out in May of this year. After all, Hollywood can’t start a summer without giving animals a little bit of love! It’s a heartwarming movie that isn’t as sad as you might think. Instead of being a tearjerker as one may presume, it’s an uplifting story that animal lovers will enjoy! Give it a try one movie night!
- A Dog’s Purpose
Though this film stirred up controversy, A Dog’s Purpose turned out very heartwarming! In slight contrast to A Dog’s Journey, this movie is more of a tearjerker, and you may want to have a box of tissues nearby. I thoroughly enjoyed watching A Dog’s Purpose at the theater a couple years ago, and I believe that, if you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll want to give it a watch.
- The Lion King (2019)
The Lion King will be released tonight on the big screen (as of writing!). It’s a remake of the 1994 Disney animated classic. I haven’t seen it yet. Critics have not been thrilled with the movie, but that hasn’t deterred audiences from flocking to the theater previews. It looks to open at the box office with a record high for 2019 (discluding End Game). While not a dog/cat movie per se, it does include CGI animals in their natural habitat!
- Marley and Me
You can’t forget to include the 2008 beloved film, Marley and Me, based on the memoir of the same name. If you’ve never seen it, you don’t know what your missing; if you have seen it, perhaps rewatch it since it’s probably been a while. It’s definitely a modern classic for animal lovers!
- Captain Marvel
The cat shines in this superhero flick! The cat’s name is Goose, and she’s become a favorite of this film’s audiences. If you want to watch an entertaining film with a cat as a costar, this movie’s for you!
